Aquenta Project Recognised at Urban Design Awards

The Surfers Paradise Foreshore Redevelopment project to revitalise the Surfers Paradise Foreshore has been recognised at the 2011 Gold Coast Urban Design Awards.

Taking away a ‘Special Mention Certificate - Space and Space Making’, the award jury were “impressed with the accessibility of the design” and “felt that in so many ways, the design successfully enhanced the destination”.

Located along the Surfers Paradise foreshore, extending from Clifford Street to View Street and covering an area of approximately 5 hectares, the works included the design and construction of beach front Plazas, a public promenade, beach shelters, BBQ’s, street furniture, bicycle racks, and lighting and infrastructure for public events.

Aquenta Consulting’s Gold Coast office was commissioned by the Gold Coast City Council to act as their Principal Quantity Surveyor on the project, providing cost planning services along with the financial administration of the Design and Construction phase of the project.

“We are proud to have been involved in this project to create a vibrant and modern foreshore for the Gold Coast that fits its reputation as a premier international tourist destination”, said Ian Bloomfield, Aquenta’s Gold Cost Office Manager.

The Gold Coast Design Awards are a biennial event celebrating excellence in urban design.
