The Project

The Brisbane Cricket Ground, better known as 'The Gabba', is home to all international cricket matches in Queensland and to the Brisbane Lions, AFL team. The re-development of 'The Gabba' was undertaken in multiple stages, commencing in 1995. Stage 3 incorporated a new 15 bay Northern Grandstand, Stage 4 comprising 18 bay Eastern Grandstand, 5 bay Western Grandstand, Stage 5 the 15 bay Southern Grandstand, and the final section of the grandstand (Stage 6) comprised the final 9 bays.  At completion of stage 6, the international class stadium holds approximately 42,500 seats.

Our Involvement

We were engaged in post contract cost management services during the first major stage of the re-development to Stadiums Queensland.  Cost Planning services to the Trust were provided in subsequent phases.  Assistance was provided in the negotiation of the Guaranteed Construction Cost for each stage, and cost management services through to the completion of each individual stage.

The Outcome

The project was successfully completed on-schedule and within budget in 2005.
