Project: Port Macquarie Glasshouse
State: NSW
Services: Full Quantity Surveying Services
Project Cost: AUD$30m
Date: 2006-2009
The Project
The Glasshouse in Port Macquarie is a 600 seat high specification theatre space, three-storey art gallery, dance studio and function space located in the heart of this community. As a much-needed venue for theatre and musical performances, the Glasshouse has become the proud host of theatre and musical performances, gallery spaces, and travelling exhibitions. It also acts as the local community hub; enabling social and community functions and workshops throughout the area.
Our Involvement
Aquenta Consulting were engaged to provide initial cost plans and manage the inception of the design in 2006 with involvement until project completion in 2009. The complexities of the project included meeting the exacting standards of the theatre companies, optimising precise acoustics and managing the creation of a feature glazed facade. In addition, we were required to incorporate and display archaeological heritage and features through glazed flooring and wall sections to share the history of the venue.
The Outcome
The project was successfully completed on-schedule and within budget in May 2009. It is currently operating successfully within the local community, has won several high architectural awards and we're delighted to have been an integral part of the project team
