UTAS Institute of Marine & Antarctic Studies

The project required the construction of a 7300m2 support teaching, learning and research centre for the Institute of Marine and Antarctic studies in a high profile Hobart waterfront location. This Five Star, Green Star rated facility now represents an important global research precinct – with a sensitive design and strong appreciation for the urban context whilst continuing to recognise the cultural significance of the selected site.

Our involvement

Aquenta was engaged to provide cost planning services, value management services and post contract stage services including, progress valuations, financial reporting and negotiation of variations.

The outcome

The work conducted by Aquenta on this important assignment for the University of Tasmania, ensured that the project was completed within budget. The Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies has since been nominated in the Australian Institute of Architects 2014 Tasmanian Architecture Awards.
