James Cook University – Strategic Asset Management

Although benchmarks indicated that the University was allocating sufficient funds to maintenance of facilities, there was general consensus that the buildings and infrastructure were failing to meet the needs of the University.

Our involvement

Aquenta was engaged to provide advice on developing a Strategic Asset Management (SAM) Plan and Maintenance Funding Plan that would enable the University to provide good quality facilities into the future.

Framework for strategic assessment management and maintenance funding plan.

The outcome

Due to the short project timeframe, it was not possible to investigate existing facilities management arrangements fully and develop a comprehensive SAM Plan in the time available. Our approach therefore was to provide a framework for the development of the SAM Plan with the aim to progressively complete the comprehensive documentation over 12 months. The framework was supported by as much existing information as was available at the time.
