The Parks Community Centre

The $28M redevelopment involved the demolition of multiple buildings, construction of a new 25m pool and teaching pool and the refurbishment of the existing recreation centre including the indoor gymnasium. It also included the refurbishment of the existing theatres and children’s centre, and the construction of new natural turf and artificial turf pitches.

Our involvement

Aquenta was engaged as the Cost Manager for the project, working closely with the State Government project delivery team including; Department for Planning, Transport & Infrastructure (Building Management Project Services, Office for Recreation & Sport, Office of the Chief Executive), Renewal SA and Department for Communities and Social Inclusion. Aquenta undertook all aspects of cost management from feasibility estimating through to construction phase cost control. The project was delivered through a design and build construction contract which was completed in 2014.

The outcome

The project involved multiple stakeholders and funding sources, presenting numerous challenges for both client agencies and the project delivery team. Aquenta provided clear and consistent advice throughout the initial redevelopment process, and the completed project now provides a springboard for the ongoing regeneration plan for the site, which includes commercial, health, library and multiple residential developments.
