Upper Canal Refurbishment

The Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) are the owners and operators to the Upper Nepean Transfer Scheme, an essential part of the water delivery network to the City of Sydney. The Upper Canal was 120 years old and in need of refurbishment works.

Our involvement

Aquenta was initially engaged by Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) to provide cost estimates for a number of refurbishment options ranging from minimal refurbishment to a series of alternate replacement schemes.

In late 2011, SCA approached Aquenta to undertake a probabilistic risk based estimate for a revised scope of works, intended to keep the canal operational for a further 15 years, whilst its eventual full refurbishment or replacement is planned and implemented.

Probabilistic estimating.

The outcome

Funding was approved for selected works based in part on the Aquenta estimate, and the repairs to the Canal were carried out.
