UTS Great Hall Refurbishment

The existing UTS Great Hall was transformed into a state of the art facility to house university ceremonies and events. The project involved the complex design of an interior ‘mantle’ within the existing space to provide professional grade acoustics and visual stimulation. The project also involved the conversion of an existing balcony into an enclosed terrace incorporating a bar and function area.

Our involvement

Aquenta was engaged to provide initial cost plans and manage the inception of the design in 2010 with involvement until project completion in 2012. The unique aspect of the acoustic mantle created many challenges to the project team and we had to work closely with the designers and contractors to ensure the integrity of the design was achieved within the early budget sum allowance.  We achieved this successfully.

Cost estimating, cost planning, tender evaluation and review, contract management, final account preparation and agreement.

The outcome

The project was successfully completed on-schedule and within budget in 2012. The Client benefited from our involvement in this individual project and our specialist knowledge of acoustics and refurbishments. It is currently operating successfully, has won several high architectural awards and we are delighted to have been an integral part of the project team.
