Warnervale Stabling Facility

Central Coast Stabling Yard was a proposed new stabling yard located to the north of the proposed North Warnervale station on the main Gosford to Broadmeadow Main Line. The proposed design includes 8 stabling roads and a wash road facility, with an option for a full light maintenance facility building. Access to the yard would be from the nearby highway, with rail connections at both north and south.

Our involvement

Aquenta was engaged to carry out cost planning and whole of life assessment for the new stabling facility under both a design and construct, and an alliance forms of procurement. This was required so RailCorp could determine their options and preferred form of procurement for the project. Our team used their knowledge of RailCorps ‘usual’ requirements to develop a detailed scope of the estimate from very conceptual design information to provide challengeable pricing for optioneering without necessarily having the developed design solution.

Cost planning, cashflow and Whole of Life assessment.

The outcome

The project was considered as the restructured Transport for NSW assessed the overall strategy for stabling facilities within the wider metropolitan rail network and with consideration to changes in the train fleet. Ultimately this facility did not proceed at this site.
