Wiggins Island Rail Project Stage 1 – Dingo to Bluff Duplication

Wiggins Island Rail Project (WIRP) Stage One includes duplicating 24km of track between Dingo and Bluff on the Blackwater System. Work will involve earthwork and drainage, track infrastructure, overhead electrical equipment, power systems, signals and telecommunications. Three new rail bridges will be built alongside the existing bridge structures at Charlevue Creek, Springton Creek and Walton Creek,

Our involvement

Aquenta was commissioned by URS to perform construction quantity surveying services for the civil construction works only relating to the Blackwater Duplications project, together with associated Bills of Quantities in accordance with the Aurizon standard format.

The various track sections were developed through all stages of the design process and Bills of Quantities were required during each specific design phase.

The outcome

Four specific unpriced Issue for Tender Bills of Quantities were produced and submitted to Aurizon via URS together with supporting assumptions. These Bills of Quantities were used by Aurizon to form part of their tender documentation which was submitted to multiple contractors for pricing as part of the contractors’ tender submissions.
